Verona
Walking through the streets of the old town, along the banks of the River Adige, you will discover the wonders of the City of Love.
Throughout the centuries, the architecture of Verona has been marked by various dominations: from the first Roman settlements to the age of the comuni, the domination of the Scaliger lords and the Venetian and Habsburg rule.
In the centre of the city, in Piazza Bra, stands the majestic Arena, the Roman amphitheatre that for decades has hosted the prestigious summer opera season. The “liston”, a wide footway surrounding the square, is overlooked by Palazzo Barbieri and Palazzo Gran Guardia. There are also other old buildings with bars and restaurants usually frequented by Verona citizens and tourists from all over the world.
Not far away, you will find Juliet’s House with its famous balcony; a place that every year welcomes thousands of visitors fascinated by Romeo and Juliet, the two lovers whose story was told by Shakespeare in his well known tragedy.
