Via Claudia Augusta Cycle Path
Via Claudia Augusta is an ancient Roman road that from Donauwörth goes across the Alps and reaches the Adriatic Sea, today known and appreciated as a cycle path.
The Cycle Path starts from Donauwörth in Germany and leads south to Augsburg, then it reaches Füssen and Reutte in Tyrol and finally the Fern Pass.
Reaching the valley, the road winds through Imst and Nauders before reaching the highest point of the route on Reschen Pass. From here, Via Claudia Augusta crosses South Tyrol, going through the cities of Merano, Bolzano and then Trento. Here the road splits: one branch leads to Ostiglia, an important river port on the river Po, and the other to Venice.
